Music and the Brain

Be part of an ongoing research study and get a free brain scan!

Speech and music processing are fundamental processes which can be used as powerful tools to understand our brain, the most complex organ. In an ongoing study at the National Brain Research Centre in Manesar, Gurgaon we are using functional neuroimaging or fMRI to investigate the role of long-term vocal or instrumental musical training on the brain.

All you are required to do is lie down in an MRI scanner and listen to different kinds of sounds while we record your brain activity. It is a completely safe and non-invasive procedure and we take all measures to ensure the comfort of the participant. Upon completion of the experiment you will receive a free MRI of your brain and a commemorative t-shirt. We are currently recruiting volunteers who are music professionals with extensive training and experience, such as music teachers and stage performers.
